I started off by watching the Goku vs Vegeta fight from DBZ season 1 and it looked amazing, watching the explosive action on a big screen really adds to the impact of the show, and the widescreen re-release of the series is a perfect fit for a HDTV. After the 2 hour fight was over I watched a few trailers from the movie 300 (WOW

) to the Assassin's Creed Microsoft E3 Demo and I wrapped up the evening with the movie "Princess Mononoke" which was fantastic to re-watch, I also watched Yugioh the abridged movie, which is a highly compressed movie, and it looked surprisingly good.
Day 2 started off with the ending to "Princess Mononoke" because I was tired and didn't get to finish the movie. After that I started up Halo 3 on the level "The Covenant" at waypoint 1 which is a massive air battle to get to a generator (I won't spoil much) all the way through the end of the level. Again the larger screen made the game feel much more epic than on my old 28 inch.
I then did what I call "the ultimate blur test" which pushes an HDTV to its limits when it comes to motion. Ninja Gaiden Sigma, a 60 frames per second game, really tests a display. To do this test, I start a new game and fight my way to the spot where 2 ninja ambush you from above and after finishing them off, I stop and turn the camera to the trees, then I spin the camera as fast as it will go. What this does is test how much detail is lost when motion is present, compared to my old CRT (which lost no detail at all) this TV scored a 87% which is very good for a flat panel and well above any LCD on the market.
I then played some Blue Dragon for image retention tests, I played from the start of the game to the Mechat crash, which is about an hour into the game. I had some minor image retention of the status bubble in the lower left, and of the bright subtitles, but it faded quickly after finishing up. I then did the Call of Duty 2 Point landing to test a fast paced shooter (another 60 fps game) and it preformed very well.
I then stopped playing games and watched another movie, "Whisper of the Heart" to finish up the day.
Day 3 and 4 consisted of watching the rest of my Miyazaki collection and a lot of Halo 3. I played over the 2 days from the start of Halo 3 all the way to the level "The Covenant" and I had very minor image retention that went away in less than 20 seconds. I am waiting for a while to try out "Gears of War" due to the white guns in the upper right that retain very easily, and I will try out "Zelda Twilight Princess" around the same time. I'll be finishing up Halo 3 tonight hopefully and then I will start playing some PS3 games to see how it handles that.
Beware though, the Xbox 360 system Blades, at least for me, retained a bit, although it went away quickly, I wouldn't recommend staying on those screens for more than 1 minute at a time.
Over all this TV is very good for gaming, as long as you take it easy for the first month or so and avoid static images, the thread over on avsforum is a great place to start if you want to learn more about the TV.
